Our Story
History Guide Split was founded in 2019 by Marko Žunić, a licensed Split-born guide who grew up two streets from the Peristyle and got tired of watching visitors spend two hours inside Diocletian's Palace without ever learning what makes it remarkable. The palace is not a museum — it is a living city built inside a Roman emperor's retirement home. The history is layered, strange, and better than any tour script.
We started with guided walks through the palace's underground halls and old town streets. Over time we expanded into Game of Thrones experiences, Krka day trips, sunset tours to Primošten, and the Split–Trogir cruise — building each product around one principle: the guide makes or breaks the experience.
Every guide on our team is officially licensed by the Croatian Ministry of Tourism, locally born, and genuinely invested in the stories they tell. License numbers are listed openly on the team page below. Small groups — never more than 15 guests — mean every visitor gets the attention that turns a good tour into something they remember.
Why We Keep Groups Small
A guide in front of 30 people performs. A guide with 8–12 people converses. The experience is completely different.
Narrow medieval streets and underground palace halls are not designed for crowds. Small groups move freely.
